Panasonic Viera TC-P42X1 Plasma HDTV Review + Dazzlin’ Darlin’ [h] AAA and Time to Air [n] AAA
This is a review of the 42″ Panasonic Viera TC-P42X1 Plasma TV. It’s an awesome 720p display and has ZERO visual lag. The display’s built-in speakers have audio lad, but connecting A/V equipment to external speakers eliminates this problem. So this display is perfect for music games such as beatmaniaIIDX, DanceDanceRevolution, etc. I play two IIDX songs to demonstrate. The timing has not been adjusted at all in the game.
Yes, my voice is deep, but it’s not THAT deep. Cheap camera microphones just do that.

I like how ps2′s version, you can get your “thumps” on beat with the music playing. I have the arcade and the timing’s really annoying!

@ITGOmegAlex Yes, …
@ITGOmegAlex Yes, the speakers built-in to the TV itself have lag. But if you connect your PS2 to other small speakers, like PC speakers, you should be fine.

Ghosting/Image …
Ghosting/Image retention and phosphor lag are issues yet to be solved..but I take that any day over the LCD motionlag. I exchanged my plasma with my parents 2009 Philips LCD (My is a 2008 Panasonic PX80.) just to try it out..sure it’s nice as a monitor but movies are not fun to watch, neither is console games..motionblur and excessive sharpness just doesn’t fit..not to mention that LCD’s are superbright..which is annoying in a dark room.

SCREEN BURN IS …
SCREEN BURN IS NOLONGER AN ISSUE FOR PLASMA I feel sorry for people who steer away from superior picture quality for something that is not likely to happen. I challenge you to find anyone who has seen permanent damage on the newer plasma panels?
July 12th, 2010 at 2:18 pm
Exactly. I’ve …
Exactly. I’ve played a ton of beatmaniaIIDX on this thing for the past 6 months. By brother has been playing a ton of Halo and other FPS games with static images. There is absolutely NO burn-in whatsoever.

Amazing how some people don’t read up on stuff before posting. Burn ins are NOT common anymore, ghosting is but it goes away fast.

Amazing how …
Amazing how everyone fails to see that Plasma TV’s aren’t made for gaming.
Still images on the screen such as maps, HUD’s, ammo / health counters, etc. will be “burned” on the screen.
LCD and LED Tv’s are made for gaming

Lifespan of OLED …
Lifespan of OLED TV’s are still pretty poor, specially the blue color.
I’d go with the Plasma or LCD, in the future, of course, the OLED is gonna be the standard for TV’s.

It looks okay, but …
It looks okay, but the graphics look sort of stretched, and the notes are a whole lot smaller. I believe I play better with 4:3 mode, but I haven’t fully tested the differences.
