what is the lifespan for crt televisions?

i got a samsung 27” color tv.it was made in august 2000.i had this tv for 7yrs.if the electron guns or cathode (the source of all crt televisions) goes out.can it be repaired?a new part? or do i have to buy a new television?thanks ppl.

What’ll most likely happen is the guns will get out of alignment, causing things like oddly colored people. By the time that happens, however, it’ll just be cheaper to buy a new TV.

I have a CRT that’s over 8 years old, and my we just replaced my grandmother’s CRT that was well over 20 years old.

Pretty soon you are going to have to buy a new TV anyway. The government is going to force the broadcasters to all switch to digital High Definition and to discontinue the standard definition analog broadcasts.

So after another year or so your TV will be worthless (except for watching old DVDs and VHS tapes). So don’t worry about its future – it has none.
